Compared to their origins, horror movies have definitely changed throughout the years. If you see something over and over again, there comes a point where it just stops being scary. This is why many film writers and directors had to come up with new, fresh ideas to continue haunting the audience. Horror movies today have become extremely violent and gore driven. As times change, so do movies. Horror movies reflect what goes on in society and society changes day to day. Many horror films today often involve teens and young adults, drugs, and a lot of profanity. Films like these tend to be the goriest as well. The whole film industry has changed, especially since we now have a huge amount of help from CGI and better special effects. Some people have become very picky and do not like a movie if the effects or scary monsters/ demons don’t look believable. There aren’t many monster movies anymore because people just don’t believe in them, therefore don’t get frightened anymore. Horror movies have gotten bloodier, but they have given us some of the most iconic killers ever, such as Leatherface, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Michael Myers. They are some of the most recognized killers and horror movies since they came out. Their unmistakable images and movies have led to remakes of the original movies, which often get mixed reviews from hardcore original fanatics. Nevertheless, their extremely recognizable characters have led to their popularity as Halloween costumes, and part of Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights.
FROM GHOSTS, POLTERGEISTS, AND DEMONS, TO CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD MONSTERS, TO RUTHLESS KILLERS AND DERANGED MINDS, HORROR IS A WIDE VARIETY, NOT JUST BLOOD AND GORE, I MEAN, UNLESS YOU'RE INTO THAT TYPE OF THING ;D
